Morgan's future as a star player
Alex Morgan is one the most promising young players in the US women’s soccer league. She scored 15 goals this season in 16 NWSL games. This summer she will lead the U.S. delegation to Mexico's Concacaf tournament. The US had not participated in this tournament since 2010 in Cancun. While the team lost to Mexico in the semifinals, Morgan helped the Americans win the gold medal at the 2011 FIFA Women's World Cup. She also scored the winning goal in the London Olympics against Canada.
Rapinoe's lawsuit against U.S. soccer federation
Five members of USWNT filed a lawsuit in April 2016 against the U.S. soccer association seeking equal pay for their work. They claimed they had been unfairly treated due to their gender. The Equal Employment Opportunity Commission was informed and the complaint was filed. A federal judge sided against the federation in May 2020, and dismissed most of their unequal pay claims. On appeal, women filed an opening statement in the Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals.
Dunn's Olympic debut
Dunn was widely anticipated and celebrated earlier in the month in Rockville Centre. It marked the end of her World Cup absence, and her start to a new chapter in her soccer career.
Rapinoe's Third Olympics
Megan Rapinoe is a forward for the United States national team. In 2009, she made her return to the team and was a part of their first World Cup. In 2011, Rapinoe sent the ball to teammate Abby Wambach, who scored just before the game was over. In 2012, she was part of the Olympic team and contributed to their bronze medal win in London.

Team USA's Tokyo performance
Team USA's performance in the Summer Games has been largely positive. The men's basketball team won gold in Tokyo, the women's volleyball team claimed their first Olympic gold, and the women's 4x400 meter relay team took home their first-ever gold. Allyson Felix extended her career medal total to 11, and the U.S. women's track and field team won their first gold in indoor volleyball.
