Rose Lavelle hails from Cincinnati and is a professional soccer player. She started playing soccer at age five in the YMCA's coed youth leagues. When she scored her goal, she didn’t smile or celebrate but kept her cool and carried on playing the game. She later went on to play for several local soccer clubs, including Cincinnati United Premier Soccer Club. She also played college hockey at the University of Wisconsin.

Lavelle grew to be a Cincinnatian and attended Mount Notre Dame High School. Later she received a scholarship from the University of Wisconsin. Today, she plays for the Washington Spirit in the NWSL. Neil Bradford, the Cincinnati Soccer trainer, was instrumental in Lavelle's discovery of her love for soccer.

Lavelle has played for the United States women’s team at the senior and youth levels. In November 2015, she was named the top midfielder in the Big Ten. NSCAA awarded her the first-team all American honor. Lavelle also represented the Dayton Dutch Lions of the USL W-League (2014 and 2015) as well the Seattle Sounders Women’s W-League (2015 and 2015). Lavelle graduated college and joined Washington Spirit. For the 2016 Women's Premier Soccer League season, she returned to Dayton.

Rose Lavelle won Big Ten's Midfielder Award of the Year in December 2015. She was also selected to the U.S. Women's National Team, but didn't make the game-day roster. At that point, her frustration started to grow. She felt like she wasn’t making the necessary progress and wasn’t ready for the rigors that came with playing for the national team. She was able to overcome her fears by meeting Coach Wilkins.

Rose Lavelle, in addition to playing for the Badgers soccer team, is an active member of the university’s community service programs. She is a key participant in Wish Upon a Badger Experience. She is now a brand ambassador to the premium light beer FLIGHT By Yuengling.

She was a key player in the U.S. Women's National Team

Rose Lavelle was born in Cincinnati, Ohio. She was just 15 when she became a member of the U.S. Women's National Team. She recently played in the Czech Republic at the SheBelieves Cup. Although the USWNT won the game 0-0 they outshot their opponents by 18-6. Rose Lavelle won the Budweiser Woman's Choice Award.
