American mixed martial arts fighter Liz Carmouche has come out as a lesbian. She is currently the Bellator Women’s Flyweight World Champion. Before moving to Bellator, she competed in the women's bantamweight and flyweight divisions for the Ultimate Fighting Championship.

Liz Carmouche (mixed-martial arts) is openly transgender and was the first lesbian fighter in UFC. In 2014, she was in a women's bantamweight fight against Ronda Rousey. Carmouche served in the Marine Corps for five years as an aviation electrician. She completed three tours of duty in the Middle East. Carmouche began her professional MMA life in 2010. She is currently a competitor in the UFC's women bantamweight division.

Velasquez had been previously unbeaten and this victory ends Velasquez’s reign as Bellator flyweight champion.

Liz Carmouche is now at 4-0 in Bellator after her stunning win over Juliana Velasquez (previous world champion) in Round Four. She was also awarded the Bellator flyweight champion. It was part of Bellator 278's main show and ended at 4:47 into Round Four. This was Carmouche's first defeat of Velasquez. Velasquez had never been beaten in professional MMA.

The daughter of an Air Force pilot, Liz Carmouche grew up on a military base in Okinawa, Japan. Her dad served in the Air Force there, and her mom remarried. She attended a Christian school and graduated in 2003. Now she is studying at San Diego City College to become an kinesiologist.
