Indiana Fever: Why fans should support it

You've likely heard of the Indiana Fever if you love to follow Indiana's basketball team. They are the affiliate of the NBA's Indiana Pacers. Players who are nicknamed "Freddy Fever", are members of the team. Before being added to the team they must have played for Indiana Fever one season. However, you don't have to be a fan of basketball to follow the team. The Indiana Fever deserves support for several reasons.

The WNBA's most prestigious women's basketball club

The Indiana Fever are a professional basketball team in the WNBA. They made eight consecutive playoff appearances in 2005-2009. However, in 2009 Jeanette Pohlen tore an ACL and Katie Douglas caused injuries to the Minnesota Lynx. They were then eliminated from the finals. Although this was their last season, they have established themselves as one the most respected teams within the league.

The Connecticut Sun and Indiana Fever are two teams that have struggled lately. The Sun are dead last in the league in field goal percentage and Indiana ranks second. Both the Connecticut Sun's top scorers shoot over 50% from field. While the Fever's top scorers have a shooting average of 45%, they are scoring below 50%. The Connecticut Sun will be the favorite team in the playoffs based on these stats.

Freddy Fever is the mascot.

Indiana Fever's mascot, Freddy FYE, is a popular character and a huge fan favorite. Freddy FYE is a comedian and frustrates officials. The Fever is proud of its fans, and promises to keep them laughing. Freddy loves his fans, and shows that love by going to birthday parties and participating in community events. Freddy is the official mascot for the Indiana women's basketball team.


Freddy Fever's distinctive features include his trademark blue eyes, sly smile, and long hair. He may even have visited Pacers offices and obtained enter-to–win tickets. The mascot has a reputation for tossing Tshirts among the crowd. This is one of many reasons why he is a fan favourite.

It has won one WNBA title

Indiana Fever is an American professional women's basketball club that has won one WNBA champion. The team has been a perennial playoff team for the past 12 seasons. 2009 saw the Fever's best season, reaching the finals. They lost the series to Atlanta, but won the next two games consecutively to advance to WNBA Finals. The Fever went on to win the championship in 2012.

In their history, the Fever have only won one championship. In 2011, they made eight straight postseason appearances. The Fever were unable advance past the first round. In the finals, they lost to Minnesota Lynx after Katie Douglas ruptured her ACL in Game 2. However, the Fever have experienced much success since that season, led by legendary head coach Lin Dunn and team owner Herb Simon.
