Annika Sorenstam's retirement
Annika Sorenstam's announcement of retirement on the LPGA schedule surprised many people. After seven seasons, the Swedish-born professional golfer will be retiring from LPGA. She has been a significant force in women’s sport golf for almost two decades. Annika broke into the 60-hole club with a 59 hole round at the Standard Register Ping Tournament in 2001. Annika was invited by the PGA Tour to play in Colonial's 2003 tournament. She became the first woman to play in a PGA Tour event since 1945. She also won seven U.S. Women's Open Tournaments and the Vare Trophy.
Annika Sorenstam's competition schedule
After a seven-year break, Annika Sorenstam has returned to competitive golf. Annika Sorenstam completed her LPGA Tour debut last summer, finishing at the Sybase Classic 74th. She still holds the top spot in the all time money list, with more than $10,000,000. She was named LPGA Tour Player of the Year eight times and is in the World Golf Hall of Fame.
Michelle Wie West's retirement

ShopRite LPGA to Return
The ShopRite LPGA Classic will return to New Jersey this summer. Fans from the northeast are encouraged to attend the tournament. Since its inception in 1992, the event has contributed more than $19 million to local economic activity and $40 million towards various charities. Wakefern Food Corp. is the retail chain's merchandising- and logistics arm. The tournament raises money for them.
Kingsmill will not be on the 2022 schedule
The Kingsmill Resort is not included in the 2022 LPGA Tour schedule. LPGA events have been hosted on the James River course at Kingsmill since 2003. The event was originally set for 2021. However it was cancelled when Pure Silk pulled out from the deal at year's end. It is not clear what the future holds for James River Course. Kingsmill is searching for a new title sponsorship at this time.
The first major for women will be held at the Congressional Country Club
Bethesda’s Congressional Country Club hosts the 68th KPMG Woman's PGA Champion, the first women’s major tournament in almost a ten-year span. A newly restored Blue Course will serve as the centerpiece of the tournament, with practice rounds beginning Wednesday. The tournament begins Wednesday morning with the Americans teeing off first. As the tournament moves forward, there are several factors to keep in mind.
