Maya Moore has made it clear that she will be leaving the WNBA court for this season. Last played for Minnesota Lynx in 2018, at the age of 25. She said in February that Moore would be taking a vacation to pursue her dreams of becoming a minister and to concentrate on her family. During this time, Moore has also been working to free Jonathan Irons from prison for the crimes he committed at the age of 16.
Jonathan Irons, Moore’s husband, was convicted of a burglary in 2007 and a shooting in 2007.
Moore met Irons when she was visiting her godparents in Missouri. She also met Irons' great-uncle who introduced them all to the rest. When Irons was 16 years old, he was convicted of a burglary and shooting at the home of a white man. Stanley Stotler, the homeowner, identified Irons as the perpetrator. He was convicted by the jury and sent to prison.
Moore proposed to Irons that night he was liberated
Moore proposed Irons to Irons when a judge revoked his conviction for the aggravated offense. Irons' conviction was overturned by the judge after he mentioned problems with the case investigation. They are now engaged and will start a foundation to assist wrongfully convicted people. Moore plans to return to basketball in the spring.

Moore has a baby with Irons
Maya Moore just announced the birth of her first child, Jonathan Irons. The baby boy was delivered in February 2022. Following Jonathan's release from prison, they were married in 2020. It is not clear if the couple is still together. Jonathan and Maya met in prison, where they developed a close friendship.
