She has also been a part of offseasons in China, Poland and South Korea. Parker was also the 2017 World Basketball Association's top female player.

Lisa Leslie is one of the most well-known female professional athletes. She was born in 1972. Her father is a semi-professional basketball player, and her mother is a truck driver. Her father had left her when she was just four months pregnant. The family moved to Inglewood, California, where Leslie attended Morningside High School. Her basketball career flourished while she was there. She signed with Los Angeles Sparks shortly after graduating.

Seimone Augustus, aside from her WNBA career, is one of the most prominent black athletes. Her courage and dedication have made her a beloved figure among fans and media. Seimone began playing basketball when she was just a teenager. Seimone was so skilled at the sport, she was even featured in a Sports Illustrated for Women article. Kaila Charles

Kaila Charles, Maryland’s top soccer player, hails form Glenn Dale. Eleanor Roosevelt High School was her home in Greenbelt, and she was twice on the state championship team. Charles was a sophomore and a junior who received Washington Post All-Metro honors. Charles received his Eleanor Roosevelt graduation and was transferred to Riverdale Baptist School (Upper Marlboro), Maryland. In addition to receiving All-American honors, Charles also received McDonalds All-American honors.

Brittney Gruiner

Brittney Griner, a US basketball player, was detained on Friday by a Russian court after she was found guilty of smuggling drugs. She was sentenced to nine years in prison and a fine of one million roubles. This case represents a major setback in US-Russian relations. Joe Biden, US President, has demanded her release, citing Griner’s rights. She was arrested while on vacation in Russia and has not been in contact with her family since.
