France and the United States women's team will meet in the women’s international cup. Both sides have vast experience in big matches and both teams have a strong pedigree. In the last three meetings, France has won twice and drawn once. France is coming off a 3-1 win over the USA earlier this year.

The USWNT walked out of the locker-room with a sense urgency. Valerie Gauvin was unable to score a header during the first half due to American goalkeeper Alyssa Neher. Soon after, the United States scored a Sam Mewis header. France, however, has been losing possession and it seems that they will be entering overtime.

Megan Rapinoe's performance

Megan Rapinoe’s performance at the US vs France World Cup 2019 Quarterfinals was exceptional. The American forward scored a brace and was everywhere in the first half of the match. As she ran away from the goal, she acknowledged the irony and took a quick free kick.

Rapinoe scored the United States' first goal of the match in the first quarter. Her second goal in the second period proved to be crucial. The United States led the match 1-0. France came back with a late goal, thanks to Wendierenard's free kick. Rapinoe scored her 50th international goal of her career and helped the United States reach its first quarterfinals at the world cup.

Becky Sauerbrunn performing

Becky Sauerbrunn (34) is a 34 year-old defender and two time Olympian who will co-captain America's women's soccer side by side in France. USA is trying again to win the 2015 World Cup. She played every minute of the World Cup in the position of center back. She was a brilliant player when she was young and now she co-captains the team.

While the Americans have a more experienced squad, there are still some new faces in their squad. Sauerbrunn was a bit sloppy in her 1-0 win over Spain but has learned from that. After the game, Sauerbrunn acknowledged her error and was glad that her team advanced to the next round.

Megan Renard's prolific goalscoring record

Megan Renard's exemplary record as a world cup goalscorer makes her a possible contender for this year's Best FIFA Women's Player prize. Renard, 30, is France's most decorated footballer. She has won a record fourteen French League titles and seven European Cups. In addition, she has scored over 100 goals for Lyon and 28 for the national team. Renard is a strong candidate for the award, even though she has only participated in four matches for France. France's tournament spot was secured thanks to Renard’s headshot in a UEFA Euro 2022 qualifying game against Austria.

Renard also scored in four out of five World Cups. This record is one of the most impressive in the tournament. Renard's impressive goalscoring record speaks volumes about her attacking play. She is a powerful striker, has a good left-foot and is capable of scoring from a distance.

USA sues United States Soccer Federation

Major criticism is being levelled at the U.S. Soccer Federation for its position in the dispute over the salaries of the women's and men's soccer teams. Many supporters and sponsors have been disillusioned by the federation's decision not to hire lobbyists to fight the suit against women's soccer. The women's team has taken a similar approach, leveraging social media followings to weaponize uncomfortable exchanges in court.

The USSF was the target of a lawsuit that was filed against it. It claimed the federation had discriminatory practices and sexism. The USSF president, Carlos Cordeiro, resigned in March 2020 due to the backlash. Cordeiro was succeeded by Cone as president. Cordeiro continues to serve on the USSF board. However, Cone is running for President again.
