Megan Rapinoe was raised in Redding California. She is the twin sister of Rachel and was introduced by her elder brother Brian to football. Megan, Rachel and her older brother Brian have been avid fans of the game. Megan plays most of her father’s football teams. She also plays for Elk Grove United Pride, a club football team south of Sacramento. Rapinoe was a strong advocate for LGBTQ rights and gender equality.

Megan Rapinoe is a gold medal winning soccer player and activist with a strong social media presence. As a high school student, she played basketball and track and fields. She hoped that her skills as a soccer player would help her get a scholarship to the University of Portland. Rapinoe, while playing for the University of Portland was also a member of the U.S. youth under-17 team. After winning her first medal, Rapinoe joined the U.S. women’s national team and was later called up for the Under-19 team.
After her debut on the women's national team, Rapinoe was outed as gay and decided to speak up against sex discrimination. She was able to learn about slavery's history in America and became a prominent advocate. Rapinoe wore the Black Lives Matter shirt during the ESPN Excellence in Sports Performance Yearly Awards ceremony.

The USWNT champ and the singer-songwriter were engaged. Rapinoe asked Sera Cahoone, her singer-songwriter fiancée, to marry her. Their relationship has been going on for nearly two years. Sera Cahoone, a Seattle singer-songwriter, was previously engaged to US soccer player Carli Lloyd.
The couple's relationship began in 2013, when Sera Cahoone was a member of the band Carissa's Weird. Later, Sera was a member of the band Carissa's weird. She went on to form Panda and Angel. Her first solo album was released in 2006. The Stranger was impressed by her debut album and signed her to Sub Pop Records. Sera and Megan split in 2017, after which Sera continued to grow as a musician.
