U.S. women’s soccer team vs. Chile

It is an intriguing matchup between the U.S. women’s national soccer team and Chile. They have already met once before in fall 2018. Both games ended in the USA's win. The United States is also the defending champion in the Women's World Cup, so it's likely to be a tough test for Chile. Both teams have great players, but the U.S. overall team is better.

Goalkeeper Christiane Endler

On Tuesday night, the United States Women's National Team beat Chile 2-0 in their World Cup opener. Carli Lloyd scored twice, while Julie Ertz scored one. The USWNT now stands at 3-0-0 against Chile. On goal differential, the USWNT leads Group F and will face Sweden on Thursday. The USWNT is favored to win the match and will be looking to continue its winning streak.

Start lineup

Which players to start in the Women's Soccer USA vs Chile match? The United States will be trying to keep their unbeaten group stage record, but a victory over Chile could make a difference for their Olympic hopes. The U.S. currently ranks fourth in the global rankings and has won 20 of its 38 matches. Their last match was a 66-38 victory over Sweden. They were dominant in possession and scored twice in the first quarter, but they only saw the ball 28% of their match. The USA did not slow down despite starting the match with seven stars. Carli Lloyd scored two goals while missing a third.

Disputes between USWNT and FIFA

For a long time, the dispute between U.S. football and FIFA has simmered. But it is finally reaching its head. On International Women's Day in April, four months prior to the Women's World Cup began, a lawsuit was filed against U.S. soccer stars claiming gender discrimination. Players claim that they are paid less than men and are not given equal working conditions.

Players who have 200 caps or more

Becky Sauerbrunn already has 200 caps. This makes her the 12th player ever to do this in USWNT History. She will also become the fourth defense player to cross this threshold. This feat comes only a few month after the Dutch captain attained this milestone. Her achievement will surpass General Manager Kate Markgraf's. Two years later, she is the first person to have captained the U.S. national soccer team since her 100th birthday celebration game.

Endler's denial about Press

Christen press teed Lindsey Horan in the U.S. goal. Endler, however, came out of her goal to deny her tap-in. Press's strike would have given Chile the lead, but Endler made a world-class save. She has an extraordinary instinct and is capable of making incredible saves. The game's highlight was the 68th-minute save.
