
Tina Estrada (San Jose State women's soccer coach) is on a roll. In this article, we discuss the Spartans' recent success and Estrada's journey. We also address the university's mental-health resources for student athletes.
Estrada's success
Estrada, who became assistant coach of the women's soccer program at San Jose State in 2017, has a similar pedigree to Hanson. She was an All-American college soccer player, and was also a member of the U.S. under-17 national team. Estrada, who played in four NCAA tournaments, was a three-time All-WCC forward for Santa Clara. In 2015, she was named NSCAA Assistant coach of the year.
Estrada is originally from Fremont, Calif. but she now lives in Walnut Creek. Estrada was the National Assistant Coach of Year. She has coached Spartans to two NCAA Tournaments. Her teams have won five consecutive conference tournaments.

SJSU's recent success
The recent success of SJSU women’s football has been due to many players. Most notable, Dorthe Hoppius was named team MVP. However, she will not be returning to the Spartans in the 2018 season. Jamilecxth Becerra from Mountain West was also honored as the Newcomer of Year. He scored seven goals, including five that won the game. In addition, Darriell Franklin was named the MW defensive player of the year and named to the All-MW first team.
The new Spartan facilities are also responsible for this success. Spartan Beach is a new addition to the campus. In addition to these two facilities, the Spartans are also preparing to open their new Spartan Athletics Center next year.
Tina Estrada's career
Estrada has been acting as interim head coach for San Jose State's women's soccer program for the past two weeks. She was previously an Associate Head Coach and Spartans assistant for the past four years. Lauren Hanson had resigned eight seasons ago. Lauren Hanson was the last person to be named to this position. Hanson was the winningest school coach in history.
Estrada was an outstanding Santa Clara University player and was a great assistant and head coach for many programs. Estrada is on track to be one the most successful young head coaches in division-one women's soccer. Estrada is an excellent teacher with excellent communication and leadership skills.

SJSU's Mental Health Resources for Student-Athletes
SJSU students-athletes have many mental health resources at their disposal. Many resources are designed to address the athletes' individual needs. Support for Sport, for example, helps athletes to find mental health referrals. It also allows them to talk about their mental health with other teammates. LGBTQ+ Support provides stories and perspectives about playing in sports. ULIFELINE also offers resources for college mental healthcare. Counseling Services also provides a page with self-help resources for student-athletes. Health and Wellness Education offers a website with lots of information about mental and physical health topics.
SJSU's Counseling and Psychological Services division provides quality services for students. The department examines each individual's entire self and aims to provide guidance and tools to help them become productive members of society. The third floor of Student Wellness Center houses the department, which offers counseling on a range of issues.
